5 Position the pockets onto the front of the dress using your pattern as a guide, tucking the loose ricrac edge behind the pockets. Sew onto the dress front using an edgestitch (Fig.4).

Making the Sleeves:

1 Fold the front in half, with the right sides together. Sew 1.5cm (5⁄8in) in from the folded edge for 4cm (11⁄2in) to form the front pleat (Fig.5). On the wrong side press the pleat flat.

2 Press up the sleeve hems by 0.5cm (1⁄4in) and then again by a further 1cm (3⁄8in). Edgestitch in place (Fig.6).
